Breaking Ground and Breaking Records in Utah #ForTheKids

Just last weekend two schools in the state of Utah hosted a Dance Marathon in support of Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. It’s an awe-inspiring moment to watch one generation fight for the next.

The University of Utah hosted their inaugural Dance Marathon.

This program was the first to utilize Children’s Miracle Network Hospital’s newly formed Acquisition Team. The CMNH staff helped establish the founding Executive Leadership Team in fall of 2018. From there, these students had three short months to produce an event that had never taken place on their campus before.

University of Utah students set their sights high and aimed to raise $33,000: $1 for every student on their campus. By the end of the event, they had surpassed their goal and brought in a total of $33,358.19!

The first Dance Marathon program to benefit Primary Children’s Hospital was held in 2018 by Weber State University.

Weber State University had their second Dance Marathon on the same day as the University of Utah’s event. The students at Weber set the precedent in their first year that every person that attended the event would need to fund-raise to enter the event, and that wonderful expectation rolled over into this year. They also incorporated in-event fundraising for the first time and were able to raise an additional $1,000 in the last hour from participants in the room.

Weber students aimed to beat their fundraising from the previous year and accomplished that goal by bringing in $13,807.19 – for the kids!

Primary Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network is grateful for the efforts both schools went through #ForTheKids.
